This year, seven graduating students from the Harrow campus present their 2012 BA
Ceramics degree show alongside work by recent course staff.
The range of work on show
explores the fullest extent of contemporary ceramic practice, from decorative to
conceptual; cultural to political; figurative to abstract, with a respect for tradition
but also a healthy measure of irreverence about what one is expected to make in the
medium of clay.
Technique, form and surface are utilised with skill and originality.
A strong sense of experimentation is also in evidence, not least in an innovative
approach to materials that embraces mixed media and found objects. Sources of inspiration
have been found from the extremes of nature and the scrap-
The graduating students
come from a mix of nationalities, ages, experiences and backgrounds, with their works
reflecting the dynamic and energetic creative environment within which they have
worked.
Guest speaker, Glenn Adamson, Director of research at the V&A, will open the show.
